On an island full of bats, in Rwanda’s Lake Kivu, American twins Tim and Danny meet Noah, an African boy trying to find a satchel that his father buried there while hiding from the Hutu genocidaires who were killing their Tutsi neighbors in April, 1994.  The satchel was supposed to contain only family memorabilia, but it has attracted the interest of an important government official whose minions will kidnap and murder to recover its contents. It turns out that the satchel contains clues to a decades-long mystery about one of the darkest episodes in modern African history. As Tim and Danny try to protect Noah from the powerful forces that threaten him, they find themselves in mortal danger.
